Learn Proper Care for Dry Acne Prone Skin

Acne is a condition consisting of pimples, lesions, blackheads, cysts etc that occur on the face, chest, neck, back and possibly the upper arms. Almost all of teenagers age 12 to 17 have suffered from some sort of acne, whether it's pimples, blackheads or simple lesions. Most of these young adults have been able to clear up their complexion with simple over-the-counter medications. However, almost 40% of young adults have to seek medical treatment for and get care for dry acne prone skin. A visit to a dermatologist may help to give you good skin care. Dry acne prone skin may be heredity, related to the diet or to the time of year. Wintertime makes it more difficult to provide your skin with good care. Dry acne prone skin will require more gentle treatment in the winter months. Cold weather and win takes a lot of the moisture out of our skin. If you are already using some sort of acne-fighting medicine for skin care, dry acne prone skin will become twice as dry.



The type of cleansing you give your skin can play a large part in whether it's oily, dry or acne prone. While the cleanser you use on your face in the summer may work well for your face in the summer, it may not work as well in the winter. You may have to look for a cleanser that is mild on your skin, especially if you spending a lot of time outdoors in the winter. Avoid cleansers with benzyl peroxide or salicylic acid in the cold months, as they tend to dry your skin, especially if you are also using acne treatments. A dermatologist or perhaps even your regular doctor can recommend good care for dry acne prone skin. They may recommend gently soaps such as Dove, Ivory or Neutrogena. Although for years people believed that acne was caused by oily, skin it can just as easily come from dry skin. Unfortunately, some individuals are more prone to develop acne than others are.



Care for dry acne prone skin doesn't need to be something that takes up a lot of your time. It also doesn't have to be a real expensive process. Years ago, it was always assumed that if a teenage age chocolate or greasy foods, they would get pimples and acne. If they had pimples, it was assumed they ate chocolate or greasy foods. While maintaining a good diet plays a large part in our skin care, dry acne prone skin can happen to almost anyone. How you wash your face and with what are important factors to good skin care. Always use a gentle cleanser and do not scrub hard, but rather use your fingertips gently and always rinse your face with cool to warm water. There are many toners and moisturizers you can buy for your skin. What's right for one may not work for another. Your doctor may recommend a certain brand or you may want to just try to find one you like that works well for you,
